Packers - Arizona 2 Games Played in the Desert

There were two different games played on Friday night. The first half was dominated by the Packer's offense. The 2nd half was probably the highlight of Leinhart's career in the NFL at this point. Leinhart did look good, but this was a top 10 pick, projected #1 overrall the year before, going against a lot of DBs that will not be on the 53 man roster.

Rodgers looked great, again. Passes cannot get much prettier than the one thrown to Nelson for the TD, it was right in stride. Rodgers continues to be aggressive and in control, I do not see a scenario where he isn't one of the top three QBs in the NFC this year.

Finley continues to impress. He beat Rodgers-Cromartie for his 2nd TD, one of the most promising CBs in the NFL. It was a mismatch in Finley's favor.

Sutton easily looks like the best back on the Packer roster after Grant, and I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the year, most people think Sutton is better than Grant. Sutton has very good vision, which I am not sure Grant has. We will wait and see on this.

The offensive line allowed almost no pressure at all on Rodgers, and the running game was able to move the ball. Cannot ask for more from a unit that was a huge ? coming into this season.

The Defense did show some holes in the first half. It is a great thing to force turnovers, but it isn't a great thing to need those turnovers. In the first two games, the Packers D overwhelmed the other offenses. I did not see that against the Cardinals. However, there are not going to be a lot of offenses on the schedule with a QB as good as Warner at getting rid of the ball vs a blitz, or a WR target as great as Fitzgerald at the other end.

A possible explanation of the defense's minor struggles could be blamed on the Packer offense. Quick scores are great, but it does tire out your own defense. The one play I felt was real sloppy was Wells TD run, Packers players were tripping over eachother, could be due to fatigue.

I think the Packers have accomplished as much as you can in the pre-season. The 4th game will be to decide who are the last 4 or 5 guys on the roster, who will be on the practice squad, or to showcase some players for trades that otherwise would be cut. So, we have to wait two weeks before any realistic football continues.
