What can Packers do with Mason Crosby?

The Packers are screwed with their kicking game. There is no way Crosby can be an effective kicker the rest of this year. There is not one person watching the game or on the Packers that is watching Crosby attempt a kick with an positive thoughts. All of that negativity just keeps pushing these kicks right. I believe bad thoughts by a large enough group of people really can effect things like this. I have to think that, I am a fan. I sit in certain chairs, with certain shirts or hats with specific cups of coffee while I am watching the Packers because I believe all of those things can help make a difference. I truly believe our lack of confidence in Crosby can be felt by Crosby and is helping his struggles. While saying all of that, who could blame us, Crosby has sucked all year. For a kicker 80% is considered pedestrian, Crosby is hitting 72%, pathetic.

This will not improve this season. Crosby needs the offseason to come quickly to fix any mechanics issue there may be or just to clear his head. He is in a slump and that will not end this season. When everyone watching is expecting a miss, it usually misses.

Put it this way, when Crosby lines up for any kick do you have more confidence in him missing it than making it? I do, and I am sure many fans and players feel the same way. What can they do at this point? This is a the problem I have with not bringing in competition a couple of weeks ago when we could all see the problem. It is too late in my mind. Two regular season games, then the playoffs, and one of those playoff games could be a glorified scrimmage. That is not enough pressure situations to realistically work in a new kicker. This move should have been made after misses against Baltimore. Or, at least bring in some competition and give Crosby a push. Instead, the Packers just left the kicking job to Crosby and now I think that strategy has actually forced Crosby to lose more confidence. If he at least had to fight for his job a couple of weeks ago he could have gained confidence by winning the competition.

Now, we are screwed with a broken kicking game and this team cannot win three road playoff games with that problem. The good new is that the teams that are in the NFC playoffs are all explosive offenses so even making fgs may get you eliminated as you need TDs. But you would have to think if the Packers were to get to a Super Bowl that one of the four games would be a tight game and somewhat low-scoring. In that scenario, could anyone trust a Crosby kick attempt?
